It’s that time again when I feel compelled to write some more about my journey through the world of kink, but unlike my last update exactly one week ago, this time I have the immense pleasure of being able to share my experiences with another tumblr blogger.
Last night at a kink event I had an amazing time, one of the best events I've been to in a long time having a lot of fun with a great bunch of guys, many of whom I'm lucky enough to call friends. Yet on the drive home I found myself wondering why I went, and to that end why I was still in the kink scene.
I still can't explain why I'm feeling this way, but there it is.
This article got a bit long, there's a tl;dr at the bottom.
This week has been an interesting time to be on the internet.
MindGeek, the company behind the hugely popular PornHub and XTube networks, had their merchant accounts suspended by Mastercard and Visa over allegations made against it.
The instant reaction was to delete all accounts and associated videos from any account that wasn't a verified content partner (effectively as studio or registered amateur account).
Warning, this is long and rambling, the important info is at the end
About two months ago, the day Space Karen started rate limiting browsing on the platform formerly known as Twitter (I outright refuse to call it X) I decided I'd run a little experiment on myself.
Whilst I didn't do anything especially drastic, unlike Reddit (I should write about that), I decided there and then that until the rate limits were reversed, I wouldn't give the site any of my attention.
In fact, the nuclear option I took on Reddit possibly prompted this experiment as I was reminded what I enjoyed so much about the open internet.
To my surprise, the results have been quite interesting, or at least I thought them interesting enough to write about, and also provide an explanation to the friends on there as to what's going on with me.
